YGK Science Club
Science in ECE is engaging children in scientific process or SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY as the basis of learning science rather than merely giving science information. Young learners learn best through hands-on, active learning. Therefore, all activities must include active learning as the basis of scientific inquiry. Science in ECE is not confined to random experiment, activity, or trip. Instead, children are given opportunity to explore new materials, form hypothesis, try things out, observe and make conclusions as scientist would.

Inquiry-based learning is a form of active learning that involves curiosity, questioning, invitation/materials which provoke children to construct new knowledge by themselves without the teacher handling information to them.

Class Flow

  • 9:30/12:30 Good-morning!
    Circle time

  • Choice time

    means quite a lot for children. Children learn many things from play. Letting them choose their favorite play area nurtures their sense of independence and responsibility. Each area stimulates children’s curiosity and invite them to new encounters.

  • During Exploration time

    children enjoy scientific experiences through hands-on activities. Having fun and enjoying fully is the most important part of the YGK science club. Having the sense of wonder makes their experience more exciting.

  • During Feedback time

    children talk about their discoveries, thoughts and ideas after going through the hands-on activities. Teachers help document those on paper to keep track of the children’s thoughts and ideas. Having a review of the day helps children connect deeper with the theme on that day.
