Christmas Concert

We had an annual Christmas concert and talent show on Friday, December 21.

Every class practiced their songs, dances, and Christmas play for this special day and they did a great job!

Santa Claus made a special visit and brought us a big bag full of presents.

The children also showed their exuberant talents during our talent show.

We would like to appreciate all the help, kindness and support you showed us this year.  We hope you have a wonderful winter holiday, and we look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Santa's Workshop

Christmas is just around the corner.

Everyone must be looking forward to this special day!

The Kitten class did Santa's workshop pretend play, as part of their learning.

They shared ideas on how they can help Santa, and talked about which job they want to apply.

They had an interview with Santa and got a special ID when they got hired as his helpers.

Their jobs included gift wrappers, toy makers, reindeer caretakers and treat bakers. The gift wrappers wrapped some toys using paper bags and gift boxes and special wraps and stickers.  The toy makers made toys from card boards.  The reindeer caretakers gave food to the reindeer, cleaned their  poop, and trained them so that the reindeer could fly.  Treat bakers made Christmas cookies using vanilla scented play dough that they colored and made using cookie cutters.

Weekly Gym Time

It was rainy this morning.

Every time it rains, it gets colder and colder.

Of course, the YGK friends are full of energy despite the bad weather.

Today is Wednesday, which means it is the weekly Gym day.

The Kitten class had a sumo tournament in the small gymnasium.

They even chose their own stage name and seemed to have so much fun!

Evacuation Drill

We had a monthly evacuation drill yesterday.

We practiced what we had to do to protect ourselves if a Tsunami warning was issued when we are in the park.

Being prepared is very important as we cannot predict a natural disaster.

Advent has started.

Advent started last Sunday.

Here at YGK, we are getting ready to welcome the Christmas Day.

The Puppy class' teachers made a beautiful Advent calendar with the drawings of her class' children.

It's so much fun to open a window on the calendar every morning!

Park Time

It was such a beautiful day!

YGK friends enjoyed playing in the park.

Chuo YMCA Welcome Fiesta

November 23 was the Welcome Fiesta of Yokohama Chuo YMCA.

It is a charity event, held as part of the YMCA fund raising campaign for international and community cooperation.
As for YGK, we managed the haunted house and sold candy wreaths.
With the help of the YGK parents, we were able to have a successful fundraising campaign.
Several graduates also visited us.  It was really great to see them all.
We would like to express our deepest appreciation for all the support we received from everyone!

Thanksgiving Day

Today, we celebrated "Thanksgiving Day."  Thanksgiving is celebrated yearly in the US on the 4th Thursday of November.

Thanksgiving day is said be the day when Pilgrims started giving thanks to Native Americans for their help, and to nature for the very first harvest they got on their new found continent.

Today, at YGK, a teacher read us a nice story entitled "Thanksgiving is For Giving Thanks."  We would like to take this opportunity to give thanks to the blessings and the happiness we have in our daily lives.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!!

World Children's Day

November 20 was the World Children's Day.

In Cub class, we learned about the children's rights through video.

We learned that every child has the right to survive, develop, participate, and be protected.

As an adult, we would like to keep these in mind and support their healthy growth.

Numbers Games

The Cub class is doing numbers games recently.

The Cub friends are learning "greater than", "less than" and "equal" to compare quantities.

The teachers put a lot of thought into how way they teach it in a fun way.

I found cute posts on the bulletin board in front of the classroom!
