Unforgettable Sleep-over

Cub students and their teachers had a sleep-over at Fujisan YMCA Global Eco Village on September 6th and 7th. This is one of the most exciting events that we have every year! They were able to ride the bullet train and take a bus to reach our destination. They enjoyed the fascinating view of Mt. Fuji and had a blast at Makaino Farm which is not far from the YMCA.  They could  experience milking cows, feeding sheep and rabbits, and even had free time to play at the park. The students loved bath and meal time together, the food was also delicious! When night came, they were all very excited to sleep together with friends and it was such a memorable experience for all of them! This will surely be unforgettable!

Summer School is Over

Several students spent part of their vacation at our Summer School.  This years summer school program was special and was a lot of fun because everyday is a party day.  We had Harry Potter Party, Aloha Party, Philippine Fiesta (Festival), Ninja Party and Pajama party.
For the Harry Potter party, they were sorted into houses and these houses competed in games. They also did magic spells before they ate magic jelly beans. The highlights of the Hula party included dancing hula and modeling.  We did traditional dances and games during our Philippine fiesta themed party.  The children got to try "Bamboo Dance." They also tried the game "Pabitin" which requires them to jump to get a prize/toy from a lattice (usually made of bamboo).
The children assembled under the lattice and, when it was lowered, they tried to grab as many goodies as they can. Ninja party was a lot of fun as the children did ninja training in the morning (obstacle course and shuriken shooting) and managed to hide, pick poison and eventually fight a bad villain in the afternoon. At the pajama party, aside from the games they did in the morning, the children were able to munch on popcorn while watching a movie. We had a lot of laughs and fun, and it was a great way to enjoy summer.

Thank you for coming to YGK Summer Festival

Summer is a festival season in Japan, and here at YMCA Global Kindergarten, we celebrated this season with our annual “Summer Festival” which is led not only by teachers by also by students.

We started the festivities with the omikoshi (portable shrine) parade. Everyone chanted wasshoi and rang bells as they paraded to the festival attendees. Then the game centers opened. The participants who led the games did a great job explaining the rules to guest and put stamps on their stamp cards. Our guests excitedly tried all the activities which included Bowling, Fishing, Alligator Pow, Shooting, UFO Slasher (hurling), and the new activity this year which is “dancing.” We also had Operetta Video viewing at one of the rooms.  We also had a “Moving Janken game” for our guest wherein they challenge one of the teachers to a janken, and if they win they could win a toy, otherwise they still get a sticker.

At the end of the festival, we did watermelon cracking wherein all the children had a chance to whack to paper mache watermelon. When the mache broke, they were showered with the candies from inside of it, and the children eagerly grabbed candies falling at them.

Lastly, a big watermelon was shared to everyone, and it was good way to end the festival as we could it eat with our families and friends. It was a wonderful day at the summer festival because the children were involved in a lot of activities throughout the day.

We are very thankful to all the participants and all the people who came despite the weather and typhoon warning.

Summer Festival is Just Around the Corner!

We will have our long-awaited annual Summer Festival this Saturday.
YGK friends and teachers are enjoying preparing all the stuff to make it a very special occasion.
We all look forward to seeing you at the festival!!

Operetta Performance

We had our annual Operetta last Friday. The children showcased their talents through the following musical plays: The Carnival of Animals, The Golden Goose and the Wizard of Oz.

YGK friends practiced a lot in preparing for this special day for more than 2 months.  First, they picked their favorite role right after their teachers introduced them the story and the characters.  Then they practiced their lines, songs and movements. Their families helped us greatly in preparing their costumes.

With the help of everyone, the children showed us adorable performances. All the families and friends were very proud of them.

It was a big success!

YGK Operetta Is Coming Soon!

At YGK, we have an Operetta performance  every school year.
This year is in just a few more days.
Everyone is getting ready and exciting, giving the best of themselves .
May all have a fantastic time !

Cooking Day

We had a fantastic Wednesday! We finally had the chance to experience cooking Pizza Toast with Teachers and friends.

Everyone was so excited to wear and show their cool aprons and head dresses. We had a chance to show what we learned about cooking like using knives and cutting boards and also about washing vegetables.

It was our delight that we had a chance to cut our own planted vegetables and use them for our Pizza toast. We were able to choose our own toppings and had the courage to try to eat vegetables we don't really like.
We liked them very much and most of us were thinking to make them too at home.

Everyone has shown willingness to help in cleaning up. We wiped the tables and washed plates, cups and bowls.

It had an enjoyable time and can't wait until the next event!

Prepare Ourselves

Summer is just around the corner.

At YGK, we are planning to start "water games" soon.
So to keep all the children's safety, we held special training sessions for teachers which included CPR and lifeguard training.
We would like to prepare ourselves and have a safe and enjoyable summer!

YGK excursion

We went on a zoo excursion.
It was announced that the rainy season had just begun in the Kanto region just the day before our excursion.   But fortunately for us, it turned out to be such a clear and sunny day!
We were very exited to see many different animals.
We are so grateful that we were given this opportunity.

Parents' Visits

Two months have passed since the beginning of this school year.

We had parents' visits last week.

The children were happy and excited to have their dads and moms in their classroom.

Thank you parents for making your time for us.
