【IMPORTANT】PLEASE BE SURE TO READ

Dear YMCA members,

Thank you for your continued support to the YMCA.  We would like to inform you that we were notified that two of the personnel related to the YMCA college were tested and diagnosed as positive for COVID-19 on January 9 and 13. At present, the relevant agencies, The Ward Office, medical institutions, etc. have not decided if there are any close contact persons.

We have regular sanitation and cleaning conducted by professional staff regardless of whether or not there are any outbreak of infections.  However, we decided to close the facility today and tomorrow to disinfect the facility which will be carried by a professional disinfection company.  We are planning to reopen the facility and restart programs on Sat, January 16th.  As for the college, we shall either close the school or have online classes for a certain period time so that they don’t come to school.

We apologize for this sudden notice, and any concerns and inconveniences this may cause you.  Also, in case you or your family are showing any symptoms, we recommend you to go to a clinic immediately for prevention purposes.

We shall continue working hard to prevent infections for the sake of every single person’s health and to protect the rights of every individual.  And last but not least, we pray for the person’s quick and full recovery.

As written above, other departments of Chuo YMCA will also be closed temporarily this afternoon.  YGK shall keep the school open as the persons concerned have not entered the YGK floor and we operate sanitization regularly.  If you have any change in your pick-up time, please contact us via email or telephone.

As the whole YMCA building will be closed for sanitization, YGK will be basically closed and will schedule online classes tomorrow.

In case you need to come to school for unavoidable reasons, please contact us immediately or by 17:00 at the lastest, as we need to arrange a place and teachers to take care of them.  We shall inform you later with regards to the online lessons.

Happy New Year!

We had the first class of this year and everyone came to school in good health!

May this year be filled with many happy moments!

When we asked the Joey friends "Did you eat mochi rice cakes?"

They unanimously replied  "Yes!", "No!", "I ate sweet ones!", etc.

As YGK friends had sticky rice pounding in their classrooms, we could see a real mortar and a pounder!

We also tried to hold the pounder in our hands and pounded the sticky rice in the mortar.

Everyone was so excited!

During art time, we made Kagami mochi, an offering rice cake for new year celebration.

Let's knead play dough, make a shape of Kagami-mochi and put an orange on top.

We enjoyed the New Year mood!

Regarding the Second COVID State of Emergency

Dear parents and guardians,

Thank you for your continued support under this difficult situation.

As reported, the Japanese government declared the state of emergency on January 7 in Kanagawa.  It requests us to refrain from going out after 20:00 unless necessary.

In response to this, Yokohama YMCA will close at 20:00 until the state of emergency is lifted.

As for YGK, we shall open school and have classes as normally scheduled based on this decision.

To keep the safe and hygienic environment as much as possible, we would like to ask you again to:

  1. Wear masks
  2. Clean your hands properly
  3. Check your conditions upon coming to school

We also would like to ask for your cooperation to keep your child home if anyone in your family has any unusual symptoms.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email or phone.

Happy New Year.  We hope you enjoyed your holidays.  Did you eat a lot of rice cakes?

May this year be filled with happiness.

We chose a cow as the first craft of this year.

We cut gold and silver origami into pieces and pasted them around a cow's face along with a white plum flower.

We also enjoyed hopping hoops.  Look at their happy faces!

We then found the initial letter of our name in ABC chart.   Everyone did a great job!

Informaton from Yokohama Chuo YMCA

Dear YMCA members,

Thank you for your continued support to the YMCA.  We would like to inform you that we were notified that one of the personnel using the YMCA facility was tested and diagnosed as positive for COVID-19 on December 22. The Health and Welfare Division of the Ward Office judged that there is no emergent need to close the facility or take any other countermeasures after they completed their investigation on the sanitary conditions of our facility.  However, we decided to close the facility for a day on December 24th to disinfect the facility operated by a professional disinfection company.  We are planning to reopen the facility and restart programs on Fri, December 25th.

We apologize for any concerns and inconveniences this may cause you.

Joey Class's Report:Tue, December 15

It was such a cold day.

Everyone came in a big jacket.

We learned winter clothing vocabulary, such as mittens, jacket, hat, etc. during morning meeting.  They happily said, "I see a lot of jackets!"

We introduced Musical Chair game.   They walk around the chairs to the music and sit on a chair when the music stops.  They became good at finding seats!

We also made Santa's hat,

Joey Class's Report: Thu, December 17

It's the long-awaited Christmas day!

First, they danced to "Jingle Bells" wearing their Santa hats and holding bells in their hands.

The Joeys love dancing!  They enjoyed dancing to "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and "Teddy Bear".

Now, it's time for the Musical Chairs.

They walk around the chairs to the music.

When the music stops, they need to sit on a chair.

Wow!  They all could sit so nicely!

As they loved this game, we repeated many times.

They were even helping each other by calling out "Come here! Here's a chair!"

We have been making decorations for our big Christmas tree.

To wrap up this project, we made "Santa's boot".

They put yarns through holes; in, out, in, out...

We were a bit concerned that it could a bit too hard for them... but found out that they could do these steps quite smoothly.  What a growth!

When they finished stitching, they decorated their boots.  They were so focused that they couldn't hear anything else!!

Lastly, they put the candy canes that they made last week.  Look at their colorful boots!

The Joeys always love the story time!  Thank you, Lynnet sensei, for the story time.

They got shiny necklaces after the story time!  The teachers had received gifts for them from Santa!  Everyone was so happy!  Thank you Santa!

After the fun and exciting time, Junko sensei had a violin recital for us!  Everyone listened so attentively to the beautiful tunes.   Thank you, Junko sensei, for the great time!

At the end of the party, we took a photo.

Look at these cute Santas!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
