Time spent at YGK
will be a lifetime treasure

Joey Class's Report: Thu, November 12

We learned to "make a line" and "make a circle" today.

As we practiced several times, they became able to follow the instructions.

They were so happy about it!

November is the peace month at YMCA.

We colored a paper pigeon wishing for peace.

The pigeons will be posted on the 1st floor at a later date.  Please take a look at them when you have time.

We made a maracas during art time!  We put acorns, beads, etc. in a jar and put a lid on.

Look at the Joey musicians!

Junko sensei played "Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree" on the keyboard.  They were happily shaking their maracas along with the music.

They enjoyed the music skipping and jumping.

Joey Class's Report: Wed, November 11

Lynnet sensei showed us some food flashcards during morning meeting and the Joey friends said, "It looks yummy..."  When she asked them "what is this?", they could answer some of the fruits' names in English.

We made sweet potatoes during craft time.  They glued the precut origami pieces on the sweet potato shaped paper.  Recently, we are introducing them how to use scissors.  As they are so focused in using scissors, they open their mouth widely without realizing it.  They are so adorable, aren't they?

Today's dance was "Gummy bear dance"!!
It is such a funny and cute dance!  Children really enjoyed dancing to this song!   The Gummy Bear Song has become another favorites of theirs!

Joey Class's Report: Tue, November 10

We learned about "throw and catch" during morning meeting.

We threw and caught a balloon one by one.  Each of them had really fun catching and throwing the balloon.

We made a big tree during art time.  Red, brown, green... They put their favorite colors on their palms and stamp on the paper.  What a beautiful tree they made!  We also could see each child's growth from the sizes of their handprints!

Joey Class's Report: Fri, November 6

We marched around the classroom shaking our handmade maracas.

They could walk rhythmically, singing "ABC song ♪".

We walked like a lion during eurhythmics.

Can you go through Hatumi sensei tunnel?

Next, we became an airplane!
After we had a lot of exercises, we made autumn leaves using our handprints.

Joey Class's Report:Thu, November 5

Three of our friends were absent today and we had a smaller class than usual.
We have imagined before the class started that as two girls out of three were absent, they might enjoy boys' games.
But, actually, boys were so into pretend house play and busy making delicious dishes for the teachers!
We said "yummy" so many times during play time!
Today, we learned about family from Lynnet sensei.  It was quite challenging for them to show their sister finger along with "Mommy Finger" song.  Look how serious they were!

We then drew acorn mom and baby.  Before drawing, we showed them real acorns.  They were so excited to touch and observe them!
When we pointed at their drawing and asked, "what is this?", they could tell us, "this is a mouth, this is an eye..."
They become able to express many things!  What a fun day!
See you next week!

Today's Joey Class:Wed, November 4

We made a maracas today.
We cut straws using scissors and put them in a plastic bottle along with acorns.
And then, we shook it along with music. It was fun!

We made a circle holding hands with friends. We made a big circle, a small circle and walked in a circle.
The Joey friends are becoming able to enjoy working together with friends.

Today's Joey Class: Thu, October 29

Thank you for joining the Halloween party today.  We are sorry that we couldn't invite you in the class due to this COVID situation.  On the other hand, we found it a good opportunity to show you their normal status in the class.

We had a Halloween art after the party.  We drew ghosts. And then we chased them away by singing the "Go away!" song.

Today's Joey Class: Fri, October 30

We enjoyed Halloween party today as well.
We threw newspaper balls toward a big Jack-O-Lantern while singing "Go Away" song to chase away monsters.  We also visited the Halloween Fashion Show in the Cub class, did Halloween coloring pages, etc.  We could spend a spooky but fun-filled Halloween day.
We made mushrooms during art time.  This was the very first time for them to try passing a string through holes.  They worked very hard.  This will help nurture their fine motor skills.  As the fine motor skills are necessary for using scissors, etc., we would like to introduce them in the plays.

Traffic information

Dear parents and guardians,

Thank you for your continued support to YMCA Global Kindergarten.

We would like to inform you that Yokohama city is planning to redevelop the Kannai area from year 2021 to 2023.  Prior to this construction, Yokohama city will have a social experiment to temporarily narrow the streets around the Kannai area, including the street in front of  Chuo YMCA in November.   The street is currently two lanes and will be narrowed into one lane only.

In line with this, we kindly ask you to refrain from parking in front of the YMCA or the Yamato Transport when dropping off/picking up your child as it is quite dangerous.

We would like to remind you again to please get off the car at a parking lot, use public transportations or come by bicycle.

We appreciate your kind understanding and cooperation in this matter.

We had the long-awaited Halloween party today!
We had a fashion show and they showed their favorite costume and introduced themselves in front of everyone.  The sound was not big enough for you to hear over the ZOOM but everyone was doing it really well!
We also enjoyed Trick-or-Treating, Pumpkin Hunting and Halloween dance.  We are happy if you could enjoy seeing how they are in the class.

We apologize you for the inconveniences as this was our very first time to do this.  We appreciate your warm support.
