What is YGK Joey Class?
YGK Joey Class is Yokohama YMCA's English immersion childcare program for 2-year-olds (*1).
*1=Age as of April 1 of the relevant school year
*2=In Joey's class, teachers basically use English in all aspects of childcare and activities. We do not force your child to speak English. We make sure that each child is comfortable with English at their own pace.
Why YGK Joey?
-
Each Child is a Protagonist
In a place of learning and nurturing, the protagonist is always each child. We place the utmost importance on a place where each child is truly respected and can encounter and play with what they are interested in and what they like to do.
- A place where each child can be themselves
- An environment where children feel safe and secure
- A series of small successes that nurture independence
- Teachers and staff who are Co-Learners, accompanying children with love and care
- A schedule that allows children to become familiar with English in a fun and easy way
-
Growing up among people
Yokohama Chuo YMCA, where YGK Joey is located, is a crossroads-like complex where many people of various ages, languages, and cultural backgrounds come and go. The children will grow up safely and healthily while interacting with many people and being watched over by warm eyes.
- Interaction and joint events with children from YMCA Global Kindergarten
- Participation in a variety of classes in the building, including swimming, P.E., etc. (optional)
- Worldwide YMCA network
- 14 licensed Japanese preschools in the prefecture
-
