- Our beliefs -
Yokohama YMCA was founded in 1884 and for over 130 years, the following has been our mission.
"We, the Yokohama YMCA, hereby declare our Identity and Mission. The work of the Yokohama YMCA, guided by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, will continue to focus on developing human potential at the community level and on creating a just and peaceful global society."
We believe that all children, blessed and loved by God, are very precious. Therefore at YMCA Global Kindergarten, we accept, respect and nurture every child's individuality and their natural growth.
We understand that their development during early childhood is critical in establishing children's lifelong personality. That is why we have our children experience a variety of activities, through which they learn to acknowledge and appreciate each other's differences, and learn to live with one another, cherishing their friends.
Also through these various activities, children will have the pleasure of expressing themselves, of being intrigued and astonished by nature, and of interacting with teachers and students from diverse cultures. This will lead them to comprehend the importance of respecting the differences in people. Our hope for the children of YMCA Global Kindergarten is that they acquire English as a way of communication, expand their dreams, and become global citizens who will participate in building a fair and peaceful diverse society.
