Finger Painting is Fun!

There are so many wonderful benefits of finger painting for children. It's surely a messy art activity but did you know that there are so many sensory experiences going on during this time? In the puppy class, we had an activity called 'Easter egg painting' today . Our puppies used their fingers to paint the paper eggs. Through this activity, they discovered how colours work. It also helped to improve fine motor development by strengthening finger and hand muscles. Our puppies had so much fun. Would you like to try at home with your kids?

Puppy Class at Play

Block play promotes the development of spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination as children reach to lift , move and build with blocks, strengthening their fingers, hands and arms. It also provides great learning experience of critical skills in problem solving, engineering, creative thinking and many more. It was the very first day of school for our puppy class's children. Look what they have made using blocks!

The Mysteries of Mirrors

The YGK Science Club friends dived into the mystery of mirrors.
Mirrors are a necessity to our everyday life. They show us an unexpected beauty of this world and wonders at times.
Look at how serious and focused those children are.

YGK Science Club is a weekly English immersion science course for 3-6-year-olds.
Children enjoy immersing themselves in scientific explorations.

A Tiny Visitor

One of the Puppy friends brought some chestnuts to school.
Thank you for this beautiful souvenir!

As we looked at those chestnuts, something came out from the chestnut.
Oh, it's a chubby worm!
Did you eat yummy chestnuts?  You look so happy and full!
Everyone was so excited and happy to see this unexpected visitor!

We noticed that the hole where the worm came out has a shape of a perfect circle.
It is surprising that a tiny worm can make this beautiful hole.
Nature is indeed full of wonder and astonishment.

YGK Graduation Ceremony 2019-2020

Last Sunday, we celebrated our cub students's graduation. The government is limiting bigger gatherings because of COVID-19, however we were able to host a more intimate gathering with just the parents and a few siblings. We felt so lucky to still have the opportunity to celebrate the cub student's accomplishments together. We had a beautiful graduation hosted by our emcee, Shayne. The students had a lot of mixed feelings because although they were happy to start Elementary School, they were also sad to leave YGK and all of their friends and teachers. Despite the nerves, they did a wonderful job presenting their graduation speeches where they discussed their favorite subject, hobbies, and aspirations, as well as thanking their parents, teachers and friends. We were all so proud of them. They also sang three lovely songs accompanied on piano by their music teacher, Akiko Sensei. We all shed some tears hearing the beautiful songs they had prepared. After receiving their diplomas, the parents all pinned a corsage on their children's graduation gown, signaling all their accomplishments these past few years at YGK. After the teacher's speeches, the parents were able to thank the school and congratulate all of their children. They prepared a wonderful slideshow of memories from the past few years. It was so amazing to see how much they had grown! One of the student's father also shared a heartfelt speech and another father sang us all a song. It really was such a special and beautiful day that we will always remember. Thank you so much to the parents for all your support these past few years and of course to the cub students. We are so proud of you! We hope you have a wonderful time in Elementary School and achieve all of your dreams!

Thank you for this special day!

Last Friday, we were so lucky and pleased to have Mohamed Ghareb come and do a special performance for us at YGK. He is famous worldwide for dancing a traditional Egyptian dance called the Tanoura. One of our students met him at a festival and because of our student’s passion, enthusiasm and love for Egypt, Ghareb was happy to come and perform for us. The dance was absolutely incredible and something that none of us had ever experienced before! We were all so impressed and felt so lucky to experience it together! Thank you so much to our student and his family for hosting this wonderful and once in a lifetime event!

Joey's New Year

As the new year has come, the Joey class enjoyed playing New Year games.
We made a mouse kite and tried to fly it.
We ran a lot in the gym and enjoyed seeing our kites fly!
