Time spent at YGK
will be a lifetime treasure

Joey Class's Report: Thu, March 4

Our annual events have finished one by one.  There are only four more classes remaining.

They now can introduce themselves and remember alphabet really well.   They feel shy at times, though.

During play time, they are having fun together with friends.

They are growing steadily in many aspects.

Let's enjoy the remaining days together.

It's sad to say good bye to them, but we look forward to having great time together.

We will do our best to support them.

Joey Class's Report: Wed, March 3

March 3rd is Hina Doll Festival.
Hatsumi sensei explained about Hina dolls.

We eat Hina-arare crackers.  Instead of eating the real HIna-arare, we pasted spangles on cookie-shaped construction paper.

Lynnet sensei read a Hina doll party story.  Everyone enjoyed listening to the story.

We had a happy Hina doll day.

Joey Class's Report: Tue, March 2

It's March!
It is an unfortunate weather today but we felt spring in the warm breeze.

As various flowers bloom in spring, we enjoyed talking about flowers and played pretend florist.

When we ask them specific number of flowers, they could pass us the right number of flowers.

We finished our Hina doll making.  We hope you can celebrate Hina doll party at home.

They are happily enjoying play time.

He can carry this big thing by himself!

What a growth!

The Joey friends are full of energy!  During free play time, the girls worked together and built a big house.

They were happily talking with each other, like "Tetsudatte! (which means help, please in Japanese) ...Oh! I mean, Help, please!"

When they completed making the big house, they seemed so satisfied.  Then, they started playing with cars.  After a while later, the boys were playing in the big house that the girls made!

During morning meeting, they spelled out their names.  They perfectly know how to spell their own names.

During art time, we made byobu, folding screens for the hina dolls.

We can't wait to complete the whole set of hina dolls next week.

みなとくんが持ってきてくれた絵本、みんなで楽しみました!
みなとくん、ありがとう!

Joey Class's Report: Wed, February 24

We made Hina dolls today.
When we talked about Hina doll festival, the girls started saying, "I know it!", "I have hina dolls at home!", etc.
They can use glue very well and they made animated and expressive hina dolls.

Some children were making a vacuum cleaner using blocks during work time.  What a wonderful idea!  Seeing that, other children started making batteries for the vacuum, copying them and making another vacuum, etc.  Their imagination never ends.

Skidamarink is their recent favorite song.
They will come to you when you sing "I love you!"  Enjoy singing and hugging at home, too!

Joey Class's Report:Thu, February 25

It was a beautiful day today!

The Joeys were really excited about checking the weather during the morning meeting.

They are becoming able to spell their names out in front of the class.

Now they can sit and listen to their friends.  Wow, they have become big brothers and sisters!

They are able to help each other by saying "can you help me hold this?", "careful, it's heavy!", etc.

As Hina Doll Party is approaching, we made Hina Dolls using origami paper.

We will draw their faces and make a fan, a crown, a headgear and a scepter next week.

Hope you enjoy!

Joey Class's Report:Fri, February 19

We made a very hungry caterpillar during art time.  We connected loops to make a caterpillar.  It seemed a bit challenging for them to connect loops but they could get it done till the end.  During morning meeting, we made train tickets and played train.  How .  "Dodon-don." Hmm, it is not right.  It's "Gatan-gatan."  Hmm, it sounds "Dadan-dan", isn't it?  So, we decided to go check what kind sounds that trains make after lunch.  Still, everyone had different ideas and we enjoyed each other's ideas.  Tomorrow is Emily's birthday.  Emily was so happy that everyone sang "happy birthday" for her.

Joey Class's Report: Wed, February 17

Children are checking the weather during morning meeting.
When Lynnet sensei asks them "what is the weather?", they answer in English, "sunny!" "cloudy!" "windy!" etc.

They are starting to play more in groups.  When a driver called out, all the princesses and princes got on the bus.  All aboard!  Recently, pretend play is a big hit.  The girls enjoy pretending to be princesses wearing scarves on their necks or waists.

Today, we introduces a pair activity.
"Row, row, row your boat♪!"

Joey Class's Report:Fri, February 12

They aree engaging themselves in their favorite play during free play time.

We practice finding their names and saying "my name is ..." by themselves during morning meeting.  They have become very good at it.

We are familiarizing numbers this month.  We enjoyed a game where they choose a number and toss the specific amount of newspaper balls in a basket.

Joey Class's Report: Tue, February 16

It becomes warmer.  Children are full of spirit as usual.

We continued learning numbers.  Everyone could say it really smoothly!  We asked them to find things in the classroom and count them.  They really enjoyed this activity.  Next, we learned letters.  We learned K, L and M.  We enjoyed tracing them.
