The Cub Class's Fulfilling Wednesday

It was such a fulfilling Wednesday for the children of the Cub class of YMCA Global Kindergarten.

They had a gym time in the morning where they enjoyed some Olympic games. They totally loved this challenge and did an amazing performance at each game!

In the afternoon, they made Valentine’s card using paper quilling technique. Everyone enjoyed rolling paper into tiny circles and chatting with each other while doing so.

After that, they had a short science exploration on what our hearts do for our bodies. It was such a fun learning experience as they could find out the real shape of our hearts and how strong they are as they pump blood 100,000 times per day!

Learning new things brings us pure joy!

Gift from Nature: After the Snowfall

The other day, we had a special gift from nature, the snowfall!
As it is rare to see this much snow in our area,  the children of YGK were so excited.

On the following day, the children went to the park.
Everyone had a great time touching and playing with the snow.
They especially liked making snowmen and throwing snowballs at each other.

After plenty of play, they decided to bring back a bucketful of snow to their classroom to explore more about the snow.

Back in the classroom, everyone got busy with their favorite play.
Some expanded their imagination and made snow habitats for sea and snow animals.    And others dropped paints on the snow and watched the snow absorb the colors and become colorful.

To play is to learn.
Let's have another fun-filled year!

Happy🎃Halloween!

Tomorrow is Halloween🎃
As yesterday was the last school day of the month, we had a Halloween party in our classes.
The children came to school in their colorful costumes with big smiles on their faces.
We enjoyed Halloween games, dances, stories and of course, trick-or-treating!
What a great day!

Joey Children in an Autumn Day

The children of YGK Joey class enjoyed a beautiful autumn day at the park.
They enjoyed having an outdoor morning meeting, running around on the grass and looking for natural treasures in autumn in the woods.
Fallen leaves, acorns... Nature brings us a lot of treasures.
They also enjoyed natural arts using these natural objects and being creative.
Thank you for this beautiful day!

YGK children are so into bugs!

The children of YMCA Global Kindergarten are into bugs recently. They worked together to catch various bugs, such as grasshoppers, beetles and small butterflies. The children had a close observation and read books about bugs to know more about them. Some of them also drew pictures of a bug they found. After having an observation, the teachers talked about why it is important to let go of the bugs so that they can go back to their families.

Children’s Innate Curiosity

The children of YMCA Global Kindergarten were into exploring cicada's shells along with a cicada book during choice time. Respecting and nurturing their innate curiosity is an important part of our responsibility.

May tomorrow be a wonderful day!

Today's YGK Science Club: "Invisible Ink"

We chose "Invisible Ink" as the theme of today's YGK Science Club.
First, the teacher showed us a piece of plain white paper.
Then, she stroked it gently with a special liquid.
And, Ta-daa!  A pattern showed up!
The children went like "Woah" or "Oh!"
We had a super fun Saturday!

YGK Operetta Report

Operetta is one of the biggest challenges throughout the year for the YGK children. They have gone through all the processes to have this day, starting from deciding roles, preparing costumes, practicing songs and remembering their lines. They face challenges every step of the way. Not all children are able to get their first choice in starting roles. It is not easy to remember all the songs, choreography and lines, etc. And, of course, it is quite a big challenge and even scary for the children to perform on the stage in front of an audience, but everyone did their best at that moment. Every single experience enriches each child's learning. It's amazing how fast they are growing!

YGKサイエンスクラブ:巨大シャボン玉にリベンジ挑戦!

Today’s theme of the YGK Science Club was “Giant bubbles”. Actually, we had the same theme last time. However, our hand-made bubble solution didn’t work and we couldn’t make bubbles for some reason.
And, finally, we found a good solution and we made big bubbles!! It was so much fun! Failure teaches success!

We love mud play!

The children of YMCA Global Kindergarten love mud play.
It is a great way for them to learn, relax, and let out their creativity. Medical research shows that it can also be good for their physical and emotional health.
But the thing is... they just love mud play because it is simply fun!
